About the Author William Innes Homer is the H. Rodney Sharp Professor Emeritus and former Chairman of the Department of Art History at the University of Delaware. He is well known for his articles, catalogues, and books on American art, including Robert Henri and His Circle, Alfred Stieglitz and the American Avant-Garde, Alfred Stieglitz and the Photo-Secession, A Pictorial Heritage: The Photographs of Gertrude Ksebier, and (with Lloyd Goodrich) Albert Pinkham Ryder: Painter of Dreams. Professor Homer was a consultant and catalogue author for the Philadelphia Museum of Art's 2001Ð2 exhibition Thomas Eakins, the largest survey of the artist's work ever organized.
